Dr. Mia Pham Sanchez de Lozada was born in Vietnam. At the age of 9, to escape communism, she and her brother fled the country on a small boat with other refugees. After eight tense days and nights at sea, they arrived in the Philippines, where they spent a year in a refugee camp before eventually making it to the United States. Taken in by foster parents, Dr. Mia excelled academically and earned a full scholarship to study biomedical engineering. She put herself through dental school and, upon graduation, moved to Annandale, Virginia, in 2004. Two years later, in 2006, she then purchased her dental practice and named it “Smiles by Mia."

Dr. Mia believes that going to the dentist should be a pleasant experience. Patient comfort is her top priority. As a dentist, Dr. Mia also believes that she is not just treating the teeth but the overall face. That is why she is now offering facial esthetic procedures Emface and Exion as part of her treatment. By addressing the facial muscles and tightening the skin, she is lifting the smile line, creating facial symmetry, and giving patients a complete and full smile makeover.

She strongly believes in investing in the latest technology for her business, as her focus has always been to provide her patients with the best treatments that are available. Dr. Mia takes great pride in being a small business owner. She is grateful for the opportunity to help her patients achieve their best smile and improve their overall facial esthetic.

When Dr. Mia is not in the office caring for patients, she enjoys traveling and spending time with her family. In addition, she loves exploring different restaurants in the local Washington Metro area with her husband and daughter, Lilly.
